Shot at Anthropology Schools?

I'm a Caucasian male from California, and i live in a very, very rural area. Unfortunately, my grades aren't that great, but i'm a pretty exceptional writer... On the SAT I received a 630 in Math and a 680 in Critical Reading. I passed the English Language AP with a 4. My unweighted GPA is only a 3.5 (wieghted 3.8) or so. I'm a member of the Explorers Club, which is a pretty notable organization. I have countless hours of community service from acting in a non-profit Shakespearean Theater company 5 summers in a row. I also was the lead in three school plays. I took three years of music classes and play a variety of instruments, and I even produce a lot of finished pieces through digital and live recording. I'm a 3 year practitioner of Parkour, which is a French art of movement that involves vaults, jumps, and climbs to get from point A to point B as quickly and efficiently as possible. Doing parkour, I've been a "live exhibit" of sorts at The Explorotium in San Francisco, and at the Oakland Museum. (I'm curious if I should include the parkour). I've had three years in Art. My first year was a basic class, and then i was elevated to the most advanced art class --two years in there. Meanwhile, I've been in touch with a couple local archeologists and have learned a lot about the field, and am even scheduled to attend some excavations, only helping to clear sites at this point. I'm graduating with honors at the end of the first semester, and the second semester and through the summer I plan on attending a number of digs and volunteer programs in Greece and the surrounding Balkan countries.

I'm looking at University of Chicago, University of California Berkeley, Pitzer, Whitman, and University of California Santa Cruz.
Do I have any shot? Do I stand out? What schools should i look at that are within my range?

I would think you have a decent shot at Whitman. You might also check out Beloit.

“You might also check out Beloit.”

I was just about to recommend Beloit!!

Yeah i’m looking to do Anthropology too, i spent a week last summer on a dig in a newly discovered early 18th century french settlement on the mississippi gulf coast. You SAT seems pretty low for UCB, UofC, and Pitzer. But UofC is known for rejecting applicants with perfect SATs and accepting “interesting” applicants with lower SATs. The most important part of the Chicago supplement is the Essay. I you write a great Essay and make them interested in you, you may have a chance. good luck

alright, thanks a lot guys, so far very helpful and encouraging! I’m checking out Belroit as we speak.

yeah, apparently the town isn’t that great, but they have a pretty reputable Anthro Department and an anthropology Museum on the campus. If i remember correctly they specialize in the more Archeological aspects of Anthropology.
