my be considered an urm am not sure ; a eastern uropean norn there form the bronx
he participated in a research program at columbia

He's not a URM. His stats are not spectacular, nor average. In fact, all of Tufts' SAT section averages are about 717. Is it "within the range of possibility" -- sure. But it's still a reach, due to his lack of hooks and above-average (for Tufts) stats.

competition for the top schools is greater than ever.. and tufts has been known to be a little.. mm.. weird about admissions? they take kids with not so spectacular stats whom they believe to be great people or leaders or have incredible essays or some weird thing about them.. but on the other hand.. they reject kids with awesome stats loads of research and ECs who get into ivies without some sort of unique hook..

so for your brother.. nothing seems to really pop.. it'll be imperative for him to really express himself through the essays and pass himself off as someone who genuinely stands out from the pack..

i was kind of in the same position and i know a decent number of kids at the school who were much the same way.. tufts likes eccentric kids
