Shot records

do students need to turn in a full shot record or just proof of the 2 MMR and meningitis vaccines and the TB test?

DD has dr. appt. tomorrow nad we want to end up with whatever we need.

i guess the safest thing is to make sure she is up to date on what she needs and then get a copy of the full shot record just in case.

another unrelated question … our insurance is BCBS of alabama. DD will need to get some lab work done soon after she gets there. in our city, we are required to use quest diagnostics lab. i don’t think there is a quest diagnostics in tuscaloosa. so, anyone know if they would likely have a contract with a different lab in tuscaloosa?

if not, we can just pay for the lab, but i am thinking that there is probably something in place.

IIRC, you only need to turn in proof that your D had the required vaccinations, but if it is easier for your doctor to provide a full shot record, that would also work.

BCBS is the most popular health insurer in AL, so I bet they contract with some company that offers lab testing in AL. I’m not sure how you have BCBS of AL insurance OOS or if you have your local provider, but a quick call to the number on the back of your insurance card will give you an answer immediately. I have a BCBS PPO and a provider search for the National BlueCard PPO says that the nearest participating lab is Laboratory Corporation of America Holdings at 902 5th Avenue E (5 blocks behind the Hospital). Their phone number is (205) 748-2794.

thank you seatide. you are the answer man!

idk why we have BCBS of alabama either … but that is what the card says. <shrug></shrug>

We have BCBS of Illinois, but we live in Alabama! Odd.

We had to provide all our kids shot records. I think you’re supposed to turn them in at Bama Bound, but not the end of the world that they’re being turned in later.

Mike - I looked at this thread thinking that the Tide must rule in Track and Field just as they do in football! :)
