My Principal is leaving this year. She really loves me and we talk alot. I am worried that since we have a lot of new people they won't know me to well. I'm only a junior should I ask and just have the school keep it until I apply or what?

Talk to her now and ask her if she would be willing to give you a recommendation. She may decide to write it now and maybe leave it with the school counselor or have you remind her in the fall to do it. But you need to figure it out before she leaves.

This is something that you’re going to have to get used to as you get older.

Just be straight with her. Walk into her office and ask. Just make sure she really wants to write one for you. It’s really not a big deal, at all. Teachers especially are used to writing recommendations. It’s almost in their job description.

BUT, you don’t want a lukewarm LOR. If she doesn’t feel comfortable doing it, find someone else who’ll write you a glowing letter.

In my experience (over a dozen letters), I’ve never had a single person turn me down. And I’ve never been a great student.
