mailman is just making his rounds now. If my S does not get it I just may be that volunteer. This is driving me bananas!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wonder why someone hasnt started the Official Desicion thread. It does seem like only people accepted have received their decisions.

Good luck with your mail, kumitedad! My S is still very undecided, but I love Whitman and hope that is where he ends up. I'm much more nervous about this than he is.

In the same boat here in Minnesota. Our mail is about an hour away still. Maybe we'll hear today?....wistfully.....

Nothing in the mail today. For comparisons, we are in the SF Bay Area.

maybe tomorrow.

^^^^
Rats. Like you said, maybe tomorrow!

Decision: Accepted with Walter Brattain Scholarship

Jeffrey, that's wonderful! congratulations. It's a wonderful school, as I'm sure you know.

Congratulations, Jeffrey! Did you get that today?

Indiana91:

You mentioned that your S was still undecided. Did the location have anything to do with it? My S is concerned about the small town, as he was used to the bustle of the SF Bay Area here.

Yes, kumitedad, he wishes it weren't so far from a big city. But as my son visited more small schools in small towns he became more ok with the idea and he applied to a mix of big and small schools / towns. I was really impressed with the amount of activities going on at Whitman.

Maybe our sons haven't heard yet because they are being considered for one of the scholarships. That's a happier thought than a rejection and will carry me though until the mail arrives tomorrow :-)

My d is also undecided, but not because of the size of the town. She loved Walla Walla when she visited. She is more concerned about the fit factor. Whitman students tend to be described as "outdoorsy" or "granola" - not her thing. We have an agreement that she can fly out to do an overnight if she is accepted & the cost is not prohibitive.

That's a great plan, chisquare. I think that the only way to figure out fit is by actually being there. I've heard that description of Whitman's students, but there are also a lot of urban kids from the Seattle and Portland areas, so I think that there is a good mix.

ETA: Was there something specific that your daughter liked about Walla Walla? If (when!) DS is accepted I hope to talk him into taking a day to return and get a better feel of the city.

Ok, so I called and asked (yes I am that crazed right now) and I still get the same answer "All the applications will be mailed so that everyone will get their decision by April 1".

So either A) The decisions are out and they are just giving everyone the same line right now or B) The are mailing in stages and who knows when we will get them.

Think I'll stop watching for the mailperson all the time. It will come when it comes.

It seems like the decisions are coming in dribs and drabs. So it may be option (B). Oh well nothing to do buy wait.

Thanks for checking, kumitdad. By this time next week all the waiting will be over :)

has any one who has been accepted seen a change in their online status? or will that just be updated for everyone april 1?

I received my acceptance letter two days ago and I live in Arkansas. I emailed my admissions counselor and he told me that I got an 'early mailing' because I was high on the admit list. So, if you have not received anything yet, I wouldn't panic. There could still be good news on the way!

Oh and my online status has not changed.

thanks for the information ssstanger!

Ssstanger: Thanks for the info, but I dont suppose the counselor said when the rest would be going out?

One thing, when I called for information, the person who answered sounded like a student. I guess the admissions people were either a) being driven crazey, or b) sending the rest of the decisions out, or c) all of the above

here's hoping

Thanks, ssstanger, and congratulations! Knowing that no letter doesn't necessarily mean no acceptance has made it a lot easier to wait. DS has three more decisions left to receive, and I'm hoping that they're all here by the weekend.

DS' online status "as of" date changed to 3/23/09, so maybe he'll get something in the next wave.
