Should be this week, correct?

The big white envelope was in today’s mail! Western Washington, but not Seattle. No change to the online status except that the date changed on Monday to 3/23/09.

Indiana91:

So I take it your envelope was postmarked 03/23? Reason I ask is the status for my S changed to 03/26/09, so I can time from there

And congratulations!!! So you live in W Wash, not Indiana? Just trying to time to when the letter gets here.

Soon for your son, kumitedad! I checked the postmark and it is 3/24, so it went out the day after the status change.

Yes, I am in Western Washington. (Originally from Indiana :))

Congrats to Indiana91! We too are in Western Wa, outside of Seattle and are anxiously waiting on our (typically late) mail.

Yes, congratulations transplanted Indianan(?). The rest of us should be put out of our misery soon. Very good news for your family!

hey guys, we were having a conversation in the International RD thread…for any one who has got their answer, has your online status changed dates? I know someone above said it hasn’t said admitted or anything, but does it say a date in March, because a bunch of us internationals have March dates as our status now…thanks

^^^^
Yes. Read the last few posts.

Hey, I live in Portland OR and still have not gotten mine… does this mean anything?

wonderful, now the stress is affecting my vision :S sorry Indiana91, thanks!! hmm but that is odd, because the internationals have dates like Mar 18, 21, 5…and none of us have heard…maybe they just send out all internationals in a group at the end

Is it true they send onions to accepted students?

Jlblaze, the walla walla sweet onion is a summer crop, not available until late June. They only send them to students who have accepted, I think, because by the time they are available, you know who’s coming.

Onions are for those who decide to attend Whitman. I thought for sure all decisions were heading out when my daughter received hers on Saturday, but it looks like just those who recieved the Brattain or other scholarships. Hopefully Whitman will let everyone else know soon.

Orygunmum, I believe you are correct!

I received the Brattain scholarship and was notified earlier than most candidates!

I say do not lost hope:]

Accepted today. STEVE HOLT!

rejected from claremont mckenna though, have mixed feelings

Anyone know what the financial situation is like at Whitman? I know their sticker tuition price is over thirty thousand, but I’m assumig not many people would pay this. What sort of scholarships are they giving out, and how much and how many? If it means anything, I have a pretty strong academic profile, and am probably in the “low” income category on the fafsa since my parents just separated. What sort of scholarships might I get if accepted? I would like to attend Whitman, but not if it is much more than my other choices (u of O, ubc).

oregon, when my D and I visited Whitman yesterday we got details on her financial aid package–and we were very pleasantly surprised. So far it’s shaping up to be the lowest out-of-pocket cost of the schools she’s applied to. She hasn’t heard from everybody yet, but Whitman’s package is looking really good to us.

Oregon, The merit scholarships are not as large as some of the other colleges she has recieved scholarships from. It was 12,000 which I believe is one of the largest offered. There may be one that is about 15,000. Lunitari has received info we have not, since we have been out of town and have not received financial aid info yet, so can not compare the full package to other schools. Whitman does not promise to meet 100% of need like some other schools do, but they do not count some monies that other colleges do also. If money is an issue you should apply to a variety of colleges, many that are matches and safeties and compare FA packages before you make a decision. My D chose only 6 schools, but all of them were schools she would be happy to attend.

Okay, thanks for the info lunitari and orygunmum. I’ll wait and see what happens, but most likely I do not think I will go here. I’m guessing I will get a “good” scholarship, but it will still be at least ten thousand tuition, making it really not worth it. I will be studying sciences anyway, so I think a large school would be better overall. Any of you doing science at Whitman? Medicine?

Does anyone have any idea how many people applied this year? I feel that most of the smaller schools I applied to had a significantly higher amount applicants this year…

yay!! I got in!! I am overwhelmed. Scholarship letter is in the mail :D
