<p>Should the "Why <em>insert school name</em>" essays be specified by school. So if you apply to Stern in NYU, is it recommended to make the "Why NYU" essay specified to Stern, or should this essay reflect the general dynamic of the university?

<p>I would talk specifically about Stern</p>
<p>In the beginning of the essay, introduce the general statements on why NYU- its campus right in New York City, diverse and cosmopolitan area, career opportunities, student clubs etc. After you’ve covered all these basics, towards the end of the essay I would start referring to Stern specifics e.g. great for finance, extremely career orientated, interested in business and why etc. </p>

<p>I would suggest that the answer is dependent on the space available. If space is limited, focus heavy on the specific school/program. If space is available, I would expand to the college/university in general.</p>
