Should I abandon ACT for SAT????

I just scores back from SAT May and I received a 1860 CR:570 M:640 W:650 8 essay. I have also taken the ACT test more than twice ans have received a 27, which is my highest, twice. I took the SAT this first time with no prep whatsoever. Should I abandon the ACT and try to improve my SAT. It seems that my first SAT score with no prep is already better than my ACT. Any suggestions???? Thanks.

An 1860 SAT is equivalent to a 27 ACT. I suggest choosing the test you are more comfortable with and doing prep for it.

Thanks a lot. How hard would it for me to increase my score to at least a 2000?

Getting less than 10% increase in SAT score is very feasible. The question is what have you done before getting 1860? If you got 27 in ACT twice in a row, it indicates either you did nothing in between or you have reached a plateau. Taking the test is not the same as buying a lotto ticket. Retaking means you will spend time (likely even more time then last time) to prepare for it.

Yea basically no prep between the two ACT tests. I just assumed that the score would increase with time and very little studying every once in a while ( horrible assumption). I didn’t have any money for books so my school let me check books out for the entire summer and I have an Barron SAT and ACT book. Oh an I think a Princeton Review ACT book as well. I am dedicating this summer to prep for these tests. I am shooting for 30 on act and 2000 on SAT. I hope this is feasible.

You have have better prepared before retaking ACT. Your next ACT attempt would be #4? Just do as many practice as you can over the summer. Make sure you go through the answers and explanations as well. You probably want to focus more on SAT. First, it would be your second attempt instead of 4th one as in ACT. Second, you can superscore SAT. Third, it would be easier to get notable improvement in SAT score than ACT.

Yes it would be my fourth time with the ACT and second with SAT. I am going to focus more on the SAT but in Mississippi more emphasis and recognition is given to the ACT. However, for some schools I want to apply to the SAT is the predominant test anyway. I think the SAT is my type of test anyway even though reading is my weakest area( 570 on cr yikes). Improvement on the SAT will be much easier for me because the science section on the ACT kills me.
