Hello,

I'm currently an upper division undergrad in southern California, just completing community college with over 70 transferable units to both UC's and CSU's. Nobody in my family ever went to college, so I will be the first! However, since I was very unsure of the criteria by which to judge schools, I simply applied to all CSU's in my area, all UC's except Davis and Merced, and Chapman + Redlands.

I have been in JC for 3 years- my first year I worked full time, and got mostly D's and F's. I considered dropping out. Then, I was inspired to be successful academically, and from that point on, I have boasted straight A's in all classes (and one C in transferable math). For the past three semesters, I have been above a 3.0 and on the Dean's List. However, my overall weighted GPA is a mere 2.5.

It is March 21st. I am so stressed out I cannot sleep at night.

Accepted: CSU Northridge
Rejected: CSU Long Beach, San Diego State, University of Redlands.

Haven't heard back from any UC's yet, nor Fullerton and Chapman.

I'm wondering if there is any chance at all that I'll get into another school. I've been reading up on CSU Northridge, and apparently it is a gigantic hellhole, with tons of rapes and stabbings in the surrounding area. It apparently has the highest student-on-student rape incidence in all the california universities.

YIKES.

So you can imagine how upset I am with my life right now.
Honestly, what do you think? Do I have a shot at any of these schools?
The budget crisis is DESTROYING California right now- most schools were accepting 10-15,000 new applicants per year- now they're accepting like 3,000.

What the hell do I do?
