Should I Actually Take an AP English Class?

Like, freshman year in high school I finished English 2 Honors and barely managed an A. Even though I know the reason for this is because I procrastinated a lot, I don't think I'll get any better by the time I go to AP Lang and AP Lit.

I want to get an A in both of those classes, not anything lower. And if I could barely manage an A in English 2 Honors, should I just not take one or either of those classes?

Thanks boys and girls.

No, do not mistake me for bragging, even though I am slightly, and do not think I'm worrying too much about this. I am speaking as someone who wants straight A's, and am wondering if taking the AP English classes would hinder me or not. That's all. Just answer that question.

I had the same problem. I talked to many juniors and seniors who r taking AP lang or lit and they said its REALLY REALLY hard to get an A there even if u took an honors wnglish in 9th, 10th grade. If you dont mind a B or a C, then go for it. If you want all A’s but u r looking for a way to impress colleges and dont want to take a regular english class, then go for a Community college class or a dual credit class at your school. what I did was take an online class during summer of junior year and then a dual credit class for writing 121 and an other class.

I have the same problem. I’m just gonna take Honors or CP classes until 12th grade when grades don’t matter as much.

AP English classes are easy at my school. A lot more kids take them than AP science or math classes. Talk to some older students and see what they say about it.

I don’t think it’s hard at all (AP Lit) and I got an A. And it made my writing better, which will help with college essays.

But I think it’s somewhat misguided to choose your classes on the basis of whether you’ll get an A rather than on the basis of where you’ll learn the most. If a college rejects you with one B, they would have rejected you with zero as well.

AP English classes are really hard at some schools and much easier at others. At my school it worse than APUS. Talk to older kids at your school.

Um…maybe it’s just me or my school, but AP English classes are really easy. Just don’t wait until the last minute to start your essays. Almost everyone at my school takes AP English and AP Lang was my easiest class this year.

I guess it depends on your school and strength as a writer.

At my school, AP Language is supposed to be harder than AP Literature.
