Should I add additional essays in common app??

There is a section where I could upload other information pertaining to myself.

Since my HS grades were pretty bad, should I add an essay talking about the progressive improvement I'm in? or would it be just waste of time??

you could it wouldn't hurt....

it can't hurt to let admissions officers know more good things about you

I think adding an extra essay for something the admissions officers already know (they'll see the upward grade/ GPA trend?) actually can hurt you. Theyre required to read through all the stuff, and at a Cornell info session I went to, they advised not to add too many "extra" things.

They said: "Imagine if all the applicants added extras. We already have a hard enough time processing all the applications on hand"

If there was a special explanation for your situation, you just have to have your guidance counselor write a quick note about it for you.

Thanks for your advice!!

concur with above. Have your GC or teacher speak to your improved classroom performance

ok thanks appreciate all your advice

I used the extra space to just add a little more about what I did during some of my jobs and during some of the summers. It was more like resume style than an essay but not a whole resume.

thanx for advice. you mean like in a point-form?

-Taught English in a foreign country during summer
-tutored math, english
-so forth

like this?

how about an additional rec? do you think 3 recs are too much?

I think additional recs should be fine as long as they bring new insight to your application. For example, a coach, a employer, a club advisor, etc.

A 3rd teacher, maybe...if they can talk about something different than the other 2.
