Should I appeal my UCSB rejection?

hi i applied to UCSB, UCSD, UCI, and UCSC. i have:
3.2 weighted gpa (sigh)
1240 SAT, 25 ACT

i got rejected to UCSB (my dream school), UCSD, and UCSC (i was literally so shocked their admissions rate dropped so low this year i cant even…). anyways, i havent heard back from UCI but by what i have been reading on here, i guess im getting rejected.

i got into CSUN but i really dont want to go there and i dont want to stay home to go to a CC either. i was thinking of appealing my decision but i dont know. i mean my whole high school life ive had to commute from 20+ miles away from home just to go to a magnet high school. i took 5 APs. i really did try my best and to get rejected for my efforts, although my GPA may not reflect it in the best manner,i truly think i deserve this. any advice?

You need new and compelling evidence for the UCs to change their admissions decisions

I wouldn’t recommend it. Unless you have done something really impressive since submitting your application, it won’t change anything.

Also, have you only applied to 5 schools? If you get rejected by UCI, is CSUN your only option? If you really don’t want to go there, then I wouldn’t suggest it. Instead, look into taking a gap year or other options. Going into college with the mindset that you don’t want to be there will just hurt your performance and make life miserable. That said, doing well will give you many options if you decide to transfer (I don’t know how advantageous this is in comparison to a gap year, but you still have to do well if you want another chance at the UC’s).

I wish you the best of luck! And keep in mind that your efforts in high school were not worthless – CSUN is still a good school, and with your work ethic, you are sure to do well.
