Should I Appeal? (stern)

I received my rejection letter from NYU on Monday (april 4th) and was kinda upset. Im deciding right now whether or not to appeal. I never felt like I had a guaranteed in or anything (my stats arent that great), but I get the feeling that my application wasnt thoroughly reviewed. My orchestra director got a call from admissions on Tuesday (March 29) asking for a recommendation and returned the call on Wed. Then, the rejection letter was postmarked on April 1st, which was friday.

The phone call had made me a little more confident and i thought that it would at least be between acceptance or waitlist, so i was pretty confused at the decision.

anyways, any advice on whether i should appeal or the appeal process is welcome!

does nyu even do appeals?

cant hurt to call and see if they take appeals and then if you have the time and effort to do a good appeal etc.. cant hurt to try.
but frankly i think chances are slim, especially since you are asian, which it seems is over represented minority at Stern...

i cant believe u got rejected

SAT: 1330
GPA 3.96 uw

soo many spelling errors in my app cuz i had to send it i remember that day sooo well it was monday, jan 10, the monday right after winter break, and the apps were due that day, so i went home and finished the app, and then went to sleep. there were so many spelling errors and i wrote a whole bunch of crap and on top of that

im ASIAN and im CHINESE so what do u know? haha i thought i'd be rejected EVERYWHERE with those stats

i guess maybe they need a few dumb chinese people for a change so other races can feel smart too

apps were due the 15th (later moved to the ~21st)...

haha so lucky me!

If you're at all interested in appealing, you better get on the phone to the admissions office quickly. You've already wasted the week! It's rare that they would grant an appeal but if you have some new information which might change their decision, I'd call today! 212-998-4500 . They'll tell you what the process is.

I called and they do have an appeal process but the stern admissions officer wasnt there so i left a message.

what do you guys think about that the phone call that my teacher got though? isnt that really strange. We'll see how this goes.

has here anyone appealed an gotten in?

The only appeals most colleges accept is when something was drastically wrong with your application. If nothing major was omited, don't expect success

bump ......

Why did you bump a 2 year-old thread?

This is very funny!

listen guys I'm desperate/delusional/*****ed
