I got rejected from my two dream schools, but I got into UCSB, so that's kinda cool.

I'm not really the partying type though, so I was really hoping for UCLA or Cal. I've been working my butt off at my local community college and my GPA, while not amazing, is pretty good (3.7 overall, and a bit higher for my major). I had really good personal statements and ECs (eagle scout, comp sci intern @ UCSD, tutor/caregiver for an autistic adult).

I'm taking 20 units this semester to maybe the schools that rejected me were worried that I'd drop/fail a class and be short of the 60.

Is it worth asking them to take a second look? Thanks

My major is psych btw.

If they are your dream schools I would appeal. If you don’t you’ll probably regret it since you have nothing to lose. However, they discourage people from appealing if you don’t have NEW information to provide them and since they have official wait lists (ucla at least), your chances won’t be great.

BTW I am a psych major who was accepted to both. Have you completed EVERY pre-req? If you missed one you are instantly ineligible.

I have every single one for UCLA and I’m only missing one (anatomy) for Berkeley.

You should not appeal unless you have new AND compelling information, something they overlooked or you forgot to mention that could seriously affect their decision. Of course, you have nothing to loose by trying, but there isn’t a chance for reversal in this case and it’d kinda be a waste of time from the perspective of the admissions officers.
