Should I Appeal?

I’ve come to realize that there is a 95% chance I’ll be rejected within the next week, so I’m wondering if I should appeal.

Transfer student from Community College.
Major: Business Administration
GPA in application: 3.52
Current GPA: 3.68
IGETC not completed, All major prep will be completed by end of semester.
Extracurricular: Teach English on weekends, Accounting Club etc, (6-10 hours per week)

My case would be that because I only graduated from HS in June 2013, and because Cal Poly doesn’t look at this year’s grades at all, 39 of my 60 units are reported as in progress or planned. The only units that are completed are the ones that I have from taking classes during summer of HS. I also had to take 22 units this semester in order to make the 60 unit minimum and to finish the major prep. I did get a 4.0 last semester, and I’m on track to 6 more A’s this semester.

Surely finishing 2 years of school in 1 year has to count for something, or else piling on 39 units this year will all have been for waste. (I’m taking 4 over the California limit this semester!)

Do I have a case?

calm down you haven’t even been rejected yet

I suppose I’ll just bump when I get a reply.

And hopefully you applied elsewhere…

Great job on ripping through your CC!

FYI: This is off the Cal Poly website regarding appeals:
Appeals to Undergraduate Admission Decisions - Freshmen and Transfers

Cal Poly does not set aside spaces for students who appeal admission decisions. Every denied application has been reviewed for maximum consideration. Therefore, for an appeal to have merit, it must bring to light new academic information as well as information pertaining to extenuating circumstances that was not present in the application information that clearly shows the student to be stronger than had been earlier evidenced. Neither grades received in the current academic year nor mistakes made by the applicant on the application are a basis for an appeal or the reversal of a decision.

Alright, I’ve been officially rejected. :frowning:

So the question remains : Do I have a case?

try it out
