Should I Appeal?

I was rejected and had a 3.61 UW 3.64 UC GPA and 1790 SAT.
However, in 11th grade i got 3 C's first semester (my only C's in high school) which i think caused my rejection. i got these grades because i was going through depression, hurt my knuckles to deal with the pain, and my dad lost his job (mom doesnt work)on top of it all so i thought i couldnt even afford college. the next semester i got my act together and over my depresion with the help of friends and family and recieved all A's and B's and first semester 12th grade i got a 4.0 UC GPA.

i didnt mention my personal problems with depression and family hardships in the original application, would this be a (good) reason to appeal?

Santa Cruz was the only school i wanted :(

Yeah, you will get in with appeal. Your stats are on par and your hardships will certainly help.

are you serious? you DIDNT put in your hardships for your essay q’s???!?!?! that would have gotten you in bud, UC’s LOVE sob stories of kids who overcome hardships and other types of problems.

APPEAL! you should get in. hell you can have my spot

definitely appeal because a lot of people I know got in off of appeal this year so it’s worth a shot! I’m almost positive you’ll get in off of it.

You should of mentioned your problems.
I had family problems and focused my essay on that.
I got accepted even though I got 4 Ds and mainly Cs sophomore year because I explained what was going on, but the next year I improved with 4.0s +

Wow bro. Appeal, you should of included all this hardships and depression. You’ll get in for sure. Good luck.

yeah, appeal, my spot’s yours.

OK thanks for the feedback i think i will although i was going to anyways.

Does anyone know if an appeal is written as a letter or an essay, and if so how long or short?

someone answer that ^^

An appeal is meant to provide new and compelling information. It should be a letter addressed to UCSC Admissions Committee.

I would recommend keeping it short and to the point. One paragraph per each new information. Don’t kiss a.ss. If it is your first choice college, say so. Be honest. Keep the entire appeal less than a page.

I have some experience writing successful appeals, so if you would like personal help, you can PM me.
