I am considering applying to Yale because of its wonderful art and architecture programs. But I haven't had the chance to visit the campus yet, and I've already have 4 Ivies on my list that I've visited and would like to apply to. Should I apply to Yale? Would applying to more than 4 Ivies hurt my chance even though I've "did my research" on them?

how will they know where else you apply?
and come on..they know with their admission statistics no one can count on getting in. and if you wanna go to a good school you have to apply to alot.
if i dont get into yale early im applying to like...3 or 4 others.
so i dont think your applying to too many

Colleges know what other colleges you're applying, especially within the Ivy League. They actually "trade" students who applied to more than one school sometimes. Also, they can find out which colleges you applied to through collegeboard when collegeboard sends your SAT scores. On your score report, it lists all previous score recipients. At least, that is what I heard.

I also agree that colleges have ways of finding out where else you're applying. However, I don't think they hold it against you...after all, even they know the selection process is wacko, and when you might be rejected at Yale, Harvard may accept you.

I mean trade as in, if this person applied to Harvard, Yale, Cornell, Columbia, and Brown. Maybe only Yale would accept him because the other schools realize that he can only choose one out of the five Ivies.

LOL. But honestly, even New York magazine says that Yale is the center of the New York City art world and center of the NYC architecture world (even though it is 70 miles from Manhattan)... which basically translates to center of the world's art and architecture scene.
