I'm very set on a career in bioengineering, partially because there are so many different career paths within the field that I don't really have to be set on anything in particular. However, I am somewhat of a voracious learner that loves a huge variety of subjects, and I know from experience that limiting yourself is a pretty bad idea.

My main focus with my schools is getting accepted, then after that getting a good deal.
I have a 3.77 gpa (and rising, somehow I got workaholism instead of senioritis) I'm literally one spot out of the top 10% of my class, I have a 34 ACT/2010 SAT. In terms of ECs, I have a bunch of honors for tennis, I conducted research in a BioE lab and got authorship, and I'm our Student Council Treasurer this year. I'm a white male from a NY public school of about 360 kids that I would consider relatively competitive. Last year's Saludatorian got into Harvard and Yale, and my class this year is one of the most intelligent groups the school has seen in years. My essay is coming along. I don't know if it's good yet, but it's personal to the point where I cried writing it yesterday My letters of rec come from my lab mentor, tennis coach, student council supervisor, and then biology and european history teachers.

On to the schools!
Columbia
Cornell
Pitt
University at Buffalo
Yale (you miss every shot you don't take!)
Stanford
UCSD
UC Berkeley
UW
Duke
Rice

Basically I'm looking for comments per school. For example, undecided to Cornell means going to the non-contract college that is harder to get into and more expensive. Probably not a good idea. However, I've heard at Berkeley that admissions are easier undecided (especially versus a major like BioE!), the price is the same for similar courses, and getting back into my major would be do-able. There and UCSD I will probably go undecided. Everything else I'm not exactly certain on, so I need advice.
