money is a factor so i dont know whether i should apply EA or RD but i really want to go to Rice.... also is there any suggestions on what i can do to imrpove my chanceS? thanks

Rice doesn't have EA...only ED

oh oops i meant ED

Apply ID! Interim is the way to go. That's what I did.

Actually, I don't know if that's the best option for you. But ED is kind of scary since it's binding. But if you're set on Rice, go for it.

Interim Decision no longer exists.

Only apply ED if it's your top choice and if you aren't concerned about financial aid.

PenningtonGreg: NJ?

Only apply ED if you're absolutely in love with the school (what you want might change senior year) and money isn't an issue. It sounds like money is an issue, so apply RD, and instead try to make your commitment to/love of Rice come through in your essays.
