Should I apply EA to MIT?

I would be able to finish my application by the EA deadline, but my SAT scores are not what I intend to send in yet. I am taking the SAT this Saturday, and the subjects tests in November (last date accepted for EA). My only worry is that my SAT scores will lead to my outright rejection (rather than deferral), and that I should wait to send in a later SAT score (December).

My interview went great and he said I am totally qualified and inspired him, my extracurriculars and volunteer work are good, GPA is 3.91 UW, good letters of rec, I worked three jobs while taking full-dual enrollment courses at a community college, and I feel like my essays are pretty solid and show my passion.

Thing is, my SAT as of now is 1310/1600. I can expect it to raise at LEAST to a 1380 this next SAT exam (but am obviously hoping for MUCH better). Should I expect to be one of the few EA who are outright rejected if I send in these scores? Advice?

You should wait. About 75% of students have a 1430 or better.

Thanks for the honest advice. I will get my score up and try later.

Also, EA at MIT offers no real admissions advantage, so no point in rushing now if you can present a better app later.

It doesn’t matter how high your scores are, if they don’t love the rest of your application they won’t accept you. That being said, if they love your application, they will not reject you just because of your SAT scores. They will likely defer you.
I sent my application in early with a dreadful physics score of 620. I got deferred and then took the January chemistry subject test and then sent those score in. I was accepted on Pi day 4 years ago!
