Should I apply ea?

Notre Dame is by far my top choice out of schools. Right now I am a little below the average for Notre Dame, and I was wondering if I would have a better chance getting in EA. Most schools I am applying to, that is the case. However, Boston College said that it is even a little bit harder to get in EA cause they take a much smaller percentage. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think ND only wants stellar candidates to apply EA. They say this repeatedly and even invite you to call and speak with an admissions rep. if you are uncertain. From the little bit you've written, I don't think you'd call yourself "stellar"--right? So, I'd say RD.

Thank you. Right now, no I am not stellar. Does anyone know whether or not if I take the October SAT, it would count for EA. Reason being that my math score is a 780. My reading is a 650, but I had a very off day. I am confident I can get my reading to at least a 700. If I can do this, I would apply ea. If not Rd.

yes your Oct scores will be there for EA you can study for the verbal section and get the score up. How is your average? class rank? 1430 is not bad ask your adm rep when to apply

i was looking on the us news website, and it said that ND has a 62% EA acceptance rate. Is this true?

That seems pretty high...

62% seems pretty high to me. I thinkk it is closer to the mid 30% range. Go for it if you want..the worst that can happy is that you are outright rejected and you will have thatg much more time to figure things out rather than waiting for spring for the bad news.

I read in the observer that the acceptance rate for EA is about 35%. That was last years admissions. Two years ago it was closer to 50%. So.... neither are even close to 62%.

check for yourself im not making it up...

hmmm... There seems to be a discrepancy. Have a look

I would like the US News stats to be true, but I think that the observer's stats are more accurate.

ND's and BC's view on EA are identical. The best of the best are accepted, and nothing less

You need to find out if the statistics you are looking at are of people accepted directly out of Early Action, or if they are people that applied Early Action and were accepted then, or deferred and then accepted. I remember reading somewhere that 25% of people deferred EA at Notre Dame end up getting in.

I talked to an admissions person when I visited Notre Dame last fall, and he said that I should 'definitely apply EA because if I didn't get in, I'd probably get deferred.' I ended up getting rejected EA. I had a 2200 on my SAT (700 reading, 800 math, 700 writing), field hockey captain, club officer, lots of community service, etc. In other words, just hope that whoever reads your application likes it, because they apparently didn't like mine...

Oh, I also then applied to BC regular decision, and got in. I chose to go to Wake Forest though, and I love it here- definitely come check it out if you haven't already. The current president of Wake Forest was at Notre Dame for his entire career before he came to Wake.

yes October counts toward EA

Wow, Flylikeapenguin, I can't believe you didn't get in. I mean, I don't know your other stats, but I would've thought you were in for sure.

the notre dame rep told me that you should only apply EA if your cant really make any improvements to what u already have...

i went to an engineering camp there..and from the SAT u have..i would apply early..one of my counselors said anything above a 1400 is good enough to apply early

and the admission percentage may be higher for EA because more elite students apply at that time?
