Should I apply early action? [Chances?]

I've already asked for a chance me before, but now that I'm in my Senior year, and have some updates I thought I'd ask for more advice.

I'm not sure whether or not applying early action will help or hurt me.

Here are my stats:

SAT: 1710/2400
1150/1600

GPA: 3.1/4.0

Dual Enrollment:
General Psychology GPA: 4.0
Into to Communications GPA: 4.0
Abnormal Psychology In progress

AP / Honors
Honors Pre-Calc Grade: B
AP Calculus, AP Statistics, AP Biology In progress

ECs
Reptile Club - Sophomore Year
Human Relations Club - Junior Year
Conservation Club - Senior Year
Work - 20+ hours a week

So I was wondering not only what my chances of getting in are, but also whether or not I should apply early action. I know my GPA is sub-par, and I thought it might be a good idea to wait for my first making period to end before applying. This way the admissions office can see improvement in my senior year. On the other hand, applying early would show my high interest in the school.

Can anyone please give me their opinions, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

My D applied and was accepted EA. Her SAT scores were very similar but her GPA was slightly higher- 1 AP, 1 Dual enrollment.

If you’re not accepted EA they may just defer you to regular admission. You don’t necessarily get denied.

Did your daughter have a lot of EC’s though?
From what I’ve heard, JMU really looks at those.

I’ve also scheduled an appointment with my guidance counselor for her input on what to do.
