Should I apply Early Action or Regular Decision?

^^ Also, your class rank is really going to be an issue for UNC, where 99% of admitted students were ranked in the top 25% of their class. Based upon your test scores and your ranking, I would say UNC is going be to a reach school for you. Ditto with UT Austin: https://sp.austin.utexas.edu/sites/ut/rpt/Documents/IMA_PUB_CDS_2013_AY.pdf

My son applied EA to UNC-CH (out-of-state; rejected). I’m pretty sure that it was non-binding. The notifications were not sent until January - ie. after most other colleges’ application deadlines, and so you’d have to apply elsewhere, anyway. He was led to understand that they do not defer many students - it’s usually an up or down decision.
