Should I apply Early Action1 or Regular Decision

Hello , I’m a highschool senior looking into applying to the University of Miami
My over all Gpa 91
Sat score: 1030(out of 1600)
Lots of service hours( Volunterr tutor for over a year in addition)
Completed a internship over the summer
Part of a big sibling program for a couple of months
Do you think I will have a higher chance of getting in through early action or should I proceed with filing with regular decision ?
Thank you in advance

Can you retake your SAT? I think that you would have a better chance in regular decision if you improve your SAT score. On the old 3 part SAT the 25 percentile for accepted students was 1200. You can be sure that the vast majority of applicants with SATs below 1200 had a hook of some sort. Do you have some sort of hook (URM, legacy, recruited athlete)?

Yes , I can retake it in November. In reference to having a hook, I am a Hispanic. First generation to go to college straight from high school. I wrote about my interest in denistry in my college essay and how it influenced my education goals however I didn’t mention any sort of hook in it at all. Would I have to elaborate on that to give me an advantage?

If either of your parents has a college education (whether they got it straight out of high school or went a few years later) then you are not first gen.

If you mark Hispanic on your Common App, then no need to elaborate on that.

I am not sure if being Hispanic is a hook at U Miami.

I think in your case retaking the SAT and/or trying the ACT might be more advantageous than EA. Or depending on the EA deadline maybe you can do both.
