The Common Application Early Decision agreement says:

<a href=“https://www.commonapp.org/CommonApp/docs/downloadforms/ED_Agreement.pdf[/url] ”>https://www.commonapp.org/CommonApp/docs/downloadforms/ED_Agreement.pdf
;

Dickinson appears to not abide by the above common rule:
[Dickinson College - Early Decision](<a href=“http://www.dickinson.edu/admissions/apply/Early-Decision/]Dickinson ”>Early Decision | Dickinson College )

Yet that seems to be contradicted by the next line:

So if the same aid is given for ED, EA and RD, why shouldn’t those who need aid apply ED?

Can someone who knows Dickinson explain this?

I didn’t see anything at the Dickinson site about international applicants applying ED.

They probably discourage those relying on need-based aid because if they apply ED, they will never have the opportunity to compare offers among schools and possibly negotiate for more aid with multiple offers. They would also probably not want to be on the receiving end of broken ED agreements because of inadequate aid.
