Should I apply early decision?

If my stats are in general below average for Wesleyan,(3.75 GPA, 2000 SAT, about average extracurriculars), would it better to wait for the regular decision pool or apply early? Because I know that there is a very slim chance of me getting accepted either way, but I figured it can't hurt to try, and applying early may show enthusiasm.

It's definitely my top choice, but I'm afraid it's just so far out of my range. Would applying early give me any kind of edge?

your stats are definitely within range. I’d say your chances are better than “very slim.” I think ED gives you an edge, so if it’s definitely your top choice ED sounds like a good option to me.

If it’s definitely your top choice, apply early decision. I did, and was incredibly happy. It’ll give a boost to your application. A lot of people who apply ED still don’t get accepted, but it helps. If it’s really your first choice, there’s no harm!

Thank you so much for you’re thoughts. That’s exactly what I was thinking, so I’m glad you guys feel the same. It can’t hurt to at least try, so I don’t regret it later on = )

if you apply ED to Wesleyan will it hurt your financial aid package?

I don’t think applying ED hurts your financial aid package. People say that because when you apply ED, the only financial aid package available is the school you’re applying ED for, while if you were to apply RD to several schools, you would have more options to choose from and the ability to “shop” around.
