Should i apply early decision

Based on your submitted estimates, SLO will give you an estimated offer of aid. You usually have a few weeks to decide if you want to accept the ED FA offer, if it’s enough to support your attendance there. If you accept the offer, you must withdraw all other apps, and you won’t be able to compare other offers.

I have a different view on this than vossron. The problem with Cal Poly’s ED process is that they will notify you if you receive ED acceptance in mid-Dec, however, you don’t find out whether the financial aid package is viable until February.

Last year my daughter got ED admission. As OOS applicant we knew we’d need a pretty healthly aid package to make it work. We chose to contact the #2 school my daughter was interested in and they advised us NOT to withdraw our application to their school until we knew what the financial aid package would be. So, we did not withdraw any apps at any schools

In the end, Cal Poly’s aid offer was not enough. However, my daughter received an independent scholarship that made it work for us. At this point, we withdrew applications.

So, my advice is to not withdraw any applications until Cal Poly provides an estimate of financial support. At that point, you can decide if it is enough, or not.

“So, my advice is to not withdraw any applications until Cal Poly provides an estimate of financial support.”

Hey, I totally agree with this! We have the same view, though I didn’t know they are so slow.

oh ok. but am I allowed to NOT withdraw my apps? Bascially If i say I will attend SLO by Jan 15, can I still keep my UC apps pending?

Normally you don’t have to withdraw other apps until you accept a school’s ED FA offer, but must you send a non-refundable deposit to SLO before you know their FA award to you? I’d call SLO’s FA office and ask about these things.
