Should I apply ED Hopkins or ED UPenn?? Will chance back if needed!

Hi guys! So here is my dilemma - I really like both UPenn and Hopkins about the same, as in I can't prefer one school over the other. However, it seems to me, from what I've learned about both schools, that I have a better chance of getting into Hopkins if I apply ED than I have of getting into UPenn ED. Do you guys think it would be better for me to apply to Hopkins ED or UPenn ED? Please help me out and leave a link so I can chance you back if needed! Thank you!!

PROSPECTIVE MAJOR(S):
I will be applying Undecided

You have a similar chance, slightly higher at Hopkins, but it really depends on your future. Applying as undecided is technically not a disadvantage, but it may be hard to convey your interest to schools if you don’t have a specific program in mind. That being said, if you like the city atmosphere, Penn is better but Hopkins is known for some academics too.

Hopkins does have a higher acceptance rate for ED applicants, but try and see if you can find something that appeals to you in each of the schools and weigh them accordingly. Don’t apply ED somewhere just because it will give you a better chance of getting in, apply ED because it is the perfect fit for YOU and YOU are a perfect fit for the college. That being said:

JHU: Low reach
JHU ED: Low reach
Penn: Reach
Penn ED: Low reach

Not being in the top 10% of your class hurts, but your test scores are great so hopefully that will make up for the C+ and assorted B’s.

Chance back?

UPenn seemingly loves maths so the C and B could be potentially hurtful!!!
on the other hand i dont think tht not being 10% particularly matters since 11% is very close to tht…dont sweat on it…
id recommend John hopkins IF i can see urself going to either and want to apply to the place u have better chances at!

chance moi?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1545159-ed-either-duke-upenn-s-jerome-fisher-program-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

I know in several instances, when an applicant wrote an explanation for why they got a low grade, the admissions officers overlooked that grade and then the applicants were accepted (into schools such as Claremont Mckenna, Bowdoin, and Vassar which are relatively small). Aside from that, you look like an above average applicant. As I always say, teacher recs and essays can make a huge difference.

Please chance me back?

I agree about teacher recs and essays. I think you have a shot with ED. And if you are truly torn between which school you like better, then I would apply ED to Johns Hopkins because you are more likely to get in there. But if you like Penn better then go for Penn! Good luck!

Please chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1544406-chance-me-please-duke-notre-dame-johns-hopkins-etc-ill-chance-you-back.html</a></p>

Thanks everyone! Bump for additional advice or if ya’ll want me to chance back! :)

If you equally like both of them just as much, then go for Hopkins because it will be easier to get into

Penn ED: low reach
Hopkins ED: high match/low reach

You do have a better chance at Hopkins ED so that is something to keep in mind. However, if you realize you’d rather go to Penn, don’t be afraid to use your ED there. You could get in. I think applying undecided will help at Penn because some schools are very competitive, ex. Wharton.

Also, if you apply to one ED, I’d suggest RD for the other. That will give you the chance to get stellar grades senior year and make up for the C.

Apply to UPenn ED because it is harder to get into, meaning the ED helps more at UPenn then at JHU. Apply to JHU RD. UPenn is low reach ED and JHU is low reach RD. chance back please? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1544121-chance-duke-ed.html</a></p>

This is tough. You have decent chances at both but upenn is a nicer school and in a nicer area. Hopkins is in a pretty rough part of Baltimore. Think about something you’re interested in. If you are leaning towards a business area…upenn. Anything concerning med, go Hopkins.
