So I went to visit both schools and I originally just intended on applying to Brandeis early, but after visiting both I am torn.
PROS OF BRANDEIS:
-outstanding academics
-had amazing interview
-99% acceptance rate into law school
-right outside of Boston so more available internships and other opportunities
-more prestigious name
CONS OF BRANDEIS:
-not very pretty campus
-would be more difficult to get into
-would give less financial aid

PROS OF SKIDMORE:
-BEAUTIFUL campus
-nice town
-would easily get into
-smaller, would get more individual attention
-better financial aid
CONS OF SKIDMORE:
-not as prestigious, academics may not be as good
-not near a city really (which I do want)
-more difficult to get home because flights from Albany are awfully expensive

I would not apply ED anywhere unless you are 100% certain you like one school above all others. Brandeis and Skidmore are both fine schools and I know people who are very happy at each one. When my D was unsure between two schools for ED we visited each campus one more time, and she shadowed a student for a day (attend classes, eat in the cafeteria, meet a number of students). After doing that, her decision became clear and there were no second thoughts. (And she applied ED, got in, and absolutely loves her college.)

While my mother did get into a top 14 law school (and top 2 in the West) from Brandeis, I would caution you about looking at such a statistic. There are a great many mediocre law schools out there that accept just about anyone. Going to such schools is very often an awful career move as they put the person over a hundred thousand dollars in debt with almost no job prospects. Getting into law school is not impressive. Getting into a good law school is.

I want to have the process over with as early as possible, that’s why I want to apply ED. I honestly think I’d be happy either place. Problem is that 40% of their incoming class comes from ED. And if I get bad FA from Brandeis I can still back out (they let you if the aid they give you isn’t good enough).
