by the end of this year (i'm a junior) ill have about a 4.69 weighted/3.67 unweighted and i got a 2280 on my SAT's. columbia is one of my top choices but recently i've loved it even more and now i'm pretty sure i'll apply ED. however, as you can see, my gpa might not be up to par for a school like columbia so i wasn't sure if that was good. but ill defenitly get the grades up this year and prospectively get a whole gpa of 5.02 weighted/3.75 unweighted and my counselor says i may even end up number one. how would i let columbia know of this in october? after horribly slacking of sophomore year (:D) i got a 5.833 weighted this year but i'm still not sure if this upward trend will go through. do i have a chance? or if i'm deferred do i apply again with better scores? btw, here are some other things:

-excellent extracurriculars
-very good recs
- very good essays (i had them checked by 3 english teachers)
- what i would consider, a very good hook

thanks for any help and i really appreciate it!

I'm no expert but I'm sure most people will tell you that an upward trend is always a good sign although you'll be competing against people with 4 solid years. Also its impossible to guage your chances without knowing specifically what your ec's are and what your hook is.

bidkid, yea that's what i was worried about. anyway here are the ec's:
