Scripps College is definitely my first choice. However, my grades are really not on par with the average Scripps admitees' GPAs. I have a 3.6 UW and 4.3 weighted. Obviously, this means I took a lot of AP classes but I also have scattered Bs all over my transcript... (About a dozen over three years, to be exact. With half of them during my freshman year.)

So, would it be better for me to try and get straight As first semester of my senior year and then turn in a ED II application?

Althought I DO want to turn in the app. on November 1st to be considered for the merit scholarships...

Actually, I just wanna add another question to that.
Does anyone know why the acceptance rate is higher for RD rather than ED?
It's 40 % for ED and 45% for RD.

Can your family pay for Scripps if you don't get any merit or need based aid?
If not, then I would not apply to either EDI or EDII.

Also, I have read somewhere on CC where Scripps seems more picky on their ED acceptances. Maybe it is because they have 500+ apply by Nov 1st deadline trying to get merit aid so they can get a good idea of the applicant pool for that year, and they want to leave room for many of those Nov 1st applicants that are applying RD?

Someone else may have a better take on this.

My d applied by Nov 1 for the merit without committing to ED. She did not get one of the prestigious merit awards (kids that did are absolutely stellar) but did get in with grant aid which was more than we received at many other schools (of course, also with loan and workstudy). So, I believe you can apply for merit but with a regular review. Gives you the best of both worlds. Hope that helps. My d loves it.
