Please help me. Please, and thank you very much in advance.
I'm very confused.
First of all, I don't know if I have a good shot based on..

My GPA in junior year
1st semester: 3.67
2nd semester: 2.83

I know that UCs require at least a 3.0 gpa, but am I still qualified if I got under 3.0 only once in second semester out of my entire high school years...
Or do they look at the cumulative GPA, and if that's a 3.0 gpa or higher, then I'm qualified to apply since its above 3.0? (& if so, which UC's in Souther California am I most likely to be accepted).

I need to know because I have to write personal statement, and my AP english teacher gave me the UC prompt. I have to turn it in on the first day of school to my teacher. I don't know whether to do the UC prompt, or the Cal State prompt. What if I'm applying to a few UC's, and calstates, yet I'm most likely going to Cal state? (Both preference and likelihood, since I'm pretty uncertain and almost doubtful about UC.

Unless you can really improve your SAT scores UC Riverside and UC Merced would be the only possibilities among the UCs and they would be reaches. AS for CSUs, they only consider your total score for CR and Math and do not look at the W score. For most CSUs if your CR+M totals over a 1,000 you have a decent chance but for high end CSUs like Cal Poly SLO you would need a CR+M of 1,200 or more to be really competitive.

Cal states don’t require a personal statement. You need to raise your GPA or else there’s no point in applying to UCs. Preferably by taking comm college courses that hand out grades before the end of November, if possible. I’m not sure you can get into any good CSUs with that mediocre of a GPA.
