I was rejected to my dream college today: UCSD. Needless to say, I am a complete mess right now. :( Throughout highschool, I had maintained a 4.2 gpa, but I had a horrible nack of procrastinating so I had a few B's here and there and two C+'s once as a freshman and once as a sophomore.
This year as a senior I have finally gotten my life organized. It has been such a hard year so far but it paid off with my semester grades. Should I appeal based on my semester grades below or should I not bother?
0 period: Stats AP- A
1: French 4 AP- A
2: Art 4- A
3: Biology AP- A
4: English 4 AP- A
5: American Government AP- A
6: Concert Choir- A
7: Madrigal Singers- A

I have worked harder than I have ever worked this year, but I don't know if these grades are enough to sway the admissions board...

You can appeal, but not on the basis of new grades. That’s a UC rule. They do grant a lot of appeals, but you need a creative reason. Looks like the last few years were very tough at top UCs. What are your scores?

I would like to appeal as well. Hmmm.

you know when i was rejected from u of Miami i was heartbroken being that it was my dream school but i learned that if they dont want you they have made a big mistake because you deserve to be there but you know what just because you didnt get it you can go to a different school and still thrive there and do great things! hope that helps.

^^^ well said its what u make out of your college experience… not really where you go.

I would normally say no, but I know someone who actually successfully appealed to UCSD last year. However, he was in a situation where he believed his ACT scores were misfiled (he had a unique, ethnic last name). If you feel like you can make a case based on something on that, go for it. They’ve already rejected you, so you don’t have much to lose by appealing.
