Should I apply for Fin aid?

Would I get any fin aid if parents income is around $150k?

Possibly, if you apply. No, if you don't apply.

Any one else? So there is a chance that I would get something. Other than loans?

Maybe some loans. Unlikely you'd get any grant money. Your parents makd 3X the national average. They're the ones whose tax dollars go to support others with financial need. Not the other way around.

Try the EFC calculator, though.

Look up a finaid calculator and put there data from your parents last year taxes. You will receive pretty accurate picture of your family EFC.

It said 20,000.

So you already ran the EFC calculator, and your EFC will be around 20K. The financial aid that colleges are likely to offer will be a package that covers most of the difference between the 20K EFC and the annual cost of college (tuition, room, board, books, etc). Most of that package will probably be loans and work study, but each college handles the mix of loans, work study, and grants differently.

What is work study? How is it diff than if I get a job near the college?

The pay is about the same. Min. wage or slightly above. Work study however is subsidized by the government (we, the people). It is also easy to get on campus, in your area of interest, and in a work environment sympathetic to test and school vacation schedules.

Tambone-- you need to do some research-- the answers to most of your questions are available with a little Googling.

Also- re: work study vs. regular job. Your income from a regular job will be considered when you apply for financial aid the following year-- it can hurt your aid package. Your work study income doesn't count against you.

At some colleges, you have to apply for financial aid to be considered for merit money. Depending on the schools you are considering, with a preliminary EFC of $20K you should almost certainly complete the aid forms.

Thanks for all the info. I will definitely apply.
