Should I apply for Harvard?

I haven't decided to apply for Harvard yet.. I'd like to hear honest opinions.

My background: Korean (came to US 8 years ago), severe-prounfound deaf

School rec: GPA UW 3.85/W 4.21
Rank: 8/335
School difficulty: normal (transferred from one of worst schools in district to normal school when turning 10th)

SATI: CR 530/ M 790/ W 600
SATII: MathII 770/ Korean 710 (hearing impediment hurts it)/ US history 600
AP: US history 2/ Psychology 2/ Biology 3/ Statistics 4

EC (sucks i guess..): 40 hours volunteer in house building
Tutoring math currently
Golf varsity 10, 11
Kendo(sword martial art) 10,11,12 holding high level.

Award: little.. but best one is the award from CA math council recognizing me excelling in math.

Teachers think I'm amazing and feel excited to write letters of rec for me.
Essays would be about how I overcame obstacles, and how I feel confident about future.

hey, if harvard is where you want to go then i'd say you should definitely apply because if you don't apply then you have 0% chance of getting in. good luck!! :)

yeaaahhh, Squiggle88 is right.
No way, zippo are you getting in, unless by "high level" in your sword martial art means "Ultimate Grand Master Swordsman of Much Honor and Triple Distinction". Then I'll give you 1%.

^^^^ur being a little generous. i'd give it a .5%

Icic, sounds like you guys think Harvard won't consider my deafness. I think .5% or whatever is too low.

I think you should go ahead and apply.

woah. um. in comparison to other students with hearing disabilities, doesnt that make your SAT scores like incredibly, ridiculously high??? i thought i saw some stats on that saying the avg was like super low.

i'd say go for it, if harvard is what you want.

Why do people make posts like this and then counter everyone's responses? It's silly.

Dude, apply. JUST APPLY. If you are low income you get a fee waiver, therefore, all you lose is a few hours filling out an app if you get rejected.

wait, you are not low income...nvm

"I'd like to hear honest opinions."

was that intentional? or am i a bad person

but seriously, you have gotten over many obstacles and that is very impressive. Hopefully Havard adcoms will look the same way! Just realize Harvard isnt everything

Really? Is my score incredibly high? I didn't know that. I have heard from some people that I have high chance of getting into top universities, but I wasn't sure about harvard.

Also, I learned from people, who told me I have such low possibility of getting in, that I must have really good EC or awards, because it sounded like harvard is very picky.

Anyway, thanks guys and girls, I'll apply to Harvard even it seems a lil late.

yeah, good luck. just remember its not the end of the world if you dont get in.

Apply if you have the time. Don't worry if you don't, and make sure you apply to a good number of other schools of varying admissions competitiveness.

yep.. thanks for advices.. I found out that I can't apply online to harvard anymore... - . -
