Should I Apply for More Scholarships?

I applied to Washington University Regular Decision in late November and am currently working on my Danforth Scholarship. My question is whether or not I should spend time applying to more scholarships this late in the game since I am rather uncertain about my chances getting into WUSTL. 1/15/08 is the deadline for most of the scholarships offered (and is that a postmarked or a recieved deadline?).
I got an offer to go to the school around October, but I couldn't because my parents wouldn't let me go alone - especially during the school year. Also, we had some household issues at that time that wouldn't have allowed me to go. I'm afraid that might how given Washington University the impression that I was not interested - is there anything I could do to assure them that I am? Also, I'm also weak in the community activites - is that something that they will harshly focus on?
