For some context:
I’m an Asian male from a fairly well-off family.
I’ve always been very interested in computer science and throughout high school have been active in CS-related clubs, summer internships, etc. Recently, I’ve earned an international-level award for a research project I did.
So for the PSP scholarship, I’m kind of confused by the Harvey Mudd website’s descriptions: https://www.hmc.edu/admission/afford/scholarships-and-grants/merit-based-scholarships/presidents-scholars-program/
In the first paragraph it says they want “future leaders in engineering, science, mathematics and technology, and who are from backgrounds that are traditionally underrepresented”
But later it says “Special consideration is given to students from groups that have been traditionally underrepresented in the STEM fields”
So should I even apply? I can’t tell if “underrepresented” is essentially a requirement, or just a preference.
