<p>I'm hesitant about applying for the Rice/Baylor program because I know getting into even Rice ITSELF is super difficult, so the Rice/Baylor program must be near impossible for most people. What kind of stats do people who are accepted usually have? I won't list my stats here, but let's just say that they are on-par with most other Rice applicants (at least based on what I've read on various "chance me" threads on the Rice forum). So if I want to apply for Rice/Baylor, do I need something that stands out from all the other straight-A students with high SAT scores and numerous extracurricular activities?</p>
<p>If you do not make Rice/Baylor you are still considered for Rice University. You can either be accepted to R/B, just accepted to Rice or rejected.</p>

<p>Definitely apply. I applied to a large number of med programs last year, and just threw Rice’s in for the heck of it. Since I thought there was NO way I was going to get in (it accepts by far the fewest number of applicants out of almost all the med programs), I didn’t really even consider going to Rice (wasn’t that interested in going to the south) and basically forgot I applied there. April came along, and when I found out I got an interview, everything changed. I visited Rice, loved it, aced the interview, and got in. I also got rejected from a good number of med programs with statistically higher acceptance rates.</p>
<p>Long story short, you never know what’s going to happen, but if you have decent stats and you’re passionate about pursuing a career in medicine, then it is definitely worth spending a few hours to fill out an application. Filling out that app has so far been the best decision of my life so far, even if I completely didn’t realize it at the time. </p>
