“The Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) is designed for students with exceptional academic ability and promise despite a low-income or educationally disadvantaged background.”

I am hispanic and none of my parents went to college, however our income is more than 100K.

I qualify, because I come from an “educationally disadvantaged background” but not “low-income.”

Should I still apply or just skip it?

It won’t hurt, that much I know. I had the same question when I applied back in July, but I decided to go for it anyway. Come to think of it, I don’t know whether or not I was accepted, even though I got into both of the UCs I applied to…

[edit] The word “or”, in “low-income or educationally disadvantaged background”, is key here. Go for it, you might as well, because you’ve got nothing to lose on this. You won’t get any financial help out of EOP, but they do offer special advising if you’re accepted into the program.

Thanks, I’m going to apply just to see what happens.
