want to major in computer science

i have signed up for the SAT on oct 1, but would it be better to apply early with my current scores, or take the sat and wait till end of october to submit? and do i even stand a chance now or should i just wait for the sat?? thanks

I think you should wait and take the ACT on October 10th or the SAT on October XX.

I myself have a 1300 M+CR and a 1950 overall, but I am taking both of them in order to improve my chances even further. So I strongly suggest you wait and take either of those, or both.

whatdamcfudge - are you an auto admit? If so, you should apply now rather than wait for your first choice major to become full.
idk2016 - you can apply and then send in your new scores. ACT would be a good choice to take, some do much better on ACT. Have you visited campus on offical campus tour? Visited the college of Engineering/Computer Science dept? have you visited the prospective student center in your area? these things are important if you are not auto admit.

Yes, idk2016 & whatdamcfudge-- klparker is right: those majors fill up fast with all of the auto-admits and other hopefuls who send in their applications within the first few weeks that the application becomes available. Also, the sooner that you are accepted, the sooner you can get on the list for dorm you would want.
As he said, do some visiting in the meantime, so that you will know about dorms you would like to request and departments for the majors you have interest in. Prospective Student Centers are explained on the Admissions page, are close to home, and offer Saturday appointment times if you can’t make it over there after school on weekdays. Touring the campus, especially while classes are in session, will really let you know how you click with life there as well.
