Should I apply online or by paper?

People who applied EA: what were your experiences with the medium you chose to apply with?

I used paper because my essays were above the online character limit.

I did part 1 online since it's all basic info, and part 2 by paper (but typed). That way, I could get a general idea of the lengths for certain fields they wanted (i.e. 23 chars for field, 1400 chars for one short answer) and the font they expected (Helvetica/Arial 10pt) but I had freedom to add a little bit more if there wasn't enough space, or put in a little asterisk to explain an acronym. With online, formatting gets screwed up, and you still have to submit school report and recs and optional arts supplement by paper.

The online app sucks...I can't even fill out my school's entire address without it cutting me off.

I applied EA online and though it saved me the stress of knowing whether or not my apps made it to the office, or dealing with stamps, etc. I would recommend paper. The online character limit is a bitch. Good luck!

I definitely recommend paper for part II. The online PDF converter screws up the formatting in almost every field. It won't let you use the whole line, and you have to comply with character limits for essays.

I did online, it was very easy, but the one caveat is that you have hardly any space to elaborate on your awards, and the essay space is limited too. But do it online, it saves all the paperwork hassle.

I'm guessing online for form 2 will be more popular for RD applicants than EA. The EA applicants just had one college to deal with at a time, so printing out and writing neatly on a bunch of pages isn't nearly as much of a hassle as it would be for students with 5 other applications to fill out.

I typed mine onto paper... it looked primo (IMHO),but was a LOT of work. YMMV.

online is a bitch, but there is more peace of mind with it
