Okay so right now I am at HVCC and I just finished my first year with a 3.00 GPA, and I am looking to up it even more to about a 3.3 GPA, my first semester was rough because I gotta D in Calc I. I have been saying that I wanted to go to SUNY Albany but I am looking into these schools and schools like RIT and Clarkson seem to have great Computer Info & Computer Science programs. The only problem is that I don’t want my parents to shell out every single dime to pay for college. I know to go to a good school it costs money, and we understand that. But RIT and Clarkson are in the high 30K - low 40k. I dont know if this will have any affect, but NYS passed the excelsior bill which grants free pubic tuition to those who qualify, so maybe that might drop the tuition costs a bit for private schools (Dont bash me on my knowledge on this). Some of the SUNY schools I was looking at was SUNY Albany and Stony Brook. I really love RIT and I was researching it and it seems to have a place in my heart and looking at some of the reviews by students it was literally made just for me. What should I do, does RIT have good FA? Just help my out a little bit here I would greatly appreciate it? If you have other school suggestions, I would like to have them in NY and please no Ivy League as I am not getting into those haha (Like Cornell or Columbia).

You are going to have a problemin CS if you cannot improve your math competency . Can you take advantage of the recently announced free tuition initiative?
RIT has scholarships for transfer students, but you need at least a 3.3 GPA. And I believe the Excelsior Scholarship applies to full-time students at SUNY or CUNY schools.
I doubt it. Most private schools (especially those in the top 150 or so) compete for students on a regional or even national basis. Tuition always seems to go up not down.
The one surefire way to know whether RIT/Clarkson will offer enough FA is to apply. Meanwhile you can try running their online net price calculators, although I’m not sure how accurate they’ll be for transfers.
