Hi everyone.
I am applying for scholarships but my GPA is 2.98 since I had to do engineering. But if I apply for scholarships that require 3.0 minimum GPA, should I go for it? Or will the essay contests or applications be a waste of time?
I didn’t know what to expect freshman and sophomore year. I am a senior now and my GPA for las 3 semesters is higher than a 3.5. Should I mention that also if I should apply?
Senior in college or high school?
YES (if you have the time). 2.98 rounds to 3.0. If they wanted greater specificity then they would have posted the minimum requirement as a 3.00. As far as I am concerned you have a 3.0. But good luck bringing the GPA higher this semester!
GPA does not round, ever (unless explicitly said that it does for the purposes of a program). You may want to still apply, but I wouldn’t count on anything. Ultimately the reality is there are plenty of students that meet and far exceed the minimum requirements so you’re gonna need to really make up ground elsewhere to be in contention
Here’s what I’ve been told. The GPA requirement is strict, unless stated otherwise (EX: An internship program I applied to recently stated in the application that they PREFER applicants to have a minimum GPA of 3.2).
So if the guidelines specifically say that a 3.0 is required, don’t bother applying since you don’t meet the criteria for consideration.
