Should I apply to Berkeley?

Berkeley's my dream school and I really worked hard to have the chance to get in. I got straight A's my freshman & sophomore year ( I know they dont look at the grades you got your freshman year) During my junior year, a lot of things happened and I had to move schools twice, which is the reason why I will have two maybe three C's n my transcript. I took the most challenging classes because I knew I would get bored in a regular class. I didnt care much about not getting A's I just wanted to learn rather than getting easy A's. I guess that was a mistake. I did learn a lot of things though, and the reason I have C's is because my whole grade for the semester is based on two assignments.

If I write a really really good personal statement and get a good ACT score, could I still get in.. or should I just forget about it?

I know that a lot of people here applied to many UC's and other schools in california. What UC/CSU/Private college could I get into with those two C's n my trascript.. can anyone suggest me a school?

This year I took
5 IB classes at one school ( 1 st semester) and 3 AP and 1 Honors at the school I go to now.
Next year I'll take 5 AP classes.

Thanks and sorry if you think this thread shouldnt be posted here, I didnt know were else to post it.

Just apply, what do you have to lose aside from some cash (or no cash if you waive it).

and if you don’t get in…you can go the transfer route and get into Berkeley.

it ain’t over till its over.

You sound exactly like me. I got a C+ in both Math Analysis (Pre-calc) and AP Chem the first semester of my junior year. Berkeley was my dream school too so I applied even though I didn’t think I was going to get in. Guess what? I’m going to Cal next year! So yes, apply! You don’t lose anything by doing so but you could end up going to your dream school if you do.

Yeah, no harm in applying.

You can transfer from community college like I did too.
You will save a looot of money and never be in community college classes with more than 50 students (at least I never was) ;)

If you have to ask, you should apply.

YES!!!
Apply, I know people who have got into Cal with C’s on their Transcripts, myself included (APUSH being one of them). PM me if you want some advise. However, I would say that you have a better chance at getting into cal with C’s than some of the other UC’s, that is, if you have a good reason for it, because they do use more of a holistic review process.

Good Luck. There is NO harm in trying.

It ain’t over till the fat lady sings!

i wouldn’t bother…

You don’t have anything to lose other than maybe the app fee. The UCs all use one app. You just check which UC the app should be forwarded to and pay the fee per UC. So if you are applying to any UC at all, it wouldn’t cost you any extra time, just the extra app fee.

Perhaps you can talk about what happened or why you changed school in your essays or there is a section in the app to explain special circumstances. UCs, especially more holistic ones like Berkeley, will consider hardships. Be sure to focus on what you learned from your experience and how you became a better person from it.

There is still time to study and get good test scores if you don’t already have them. Also make sure you do well the first semester of your senior year. Both Berkeley and LA might ask for more info around January for borderline applicants. Berkeley also accepts spring admits mostly for students with lower stats.

Good luck, go for it.

Yes! Definitely apply! They will care less about ur little tiny C’s if your extracurriculars or some other part of your application is glittering–they have to look at everything and they take EVERYTHING into consideration. ur not just out because of ur C’s. My friend got into NYU with a C on her transcript when everyone else gets A’s and B’s. She also only had a 1900 or so and most others have 2000+. It’s random.
