Should I apply to Bowdoin College ? Chance me :)

The transfer rate for Bowdoin College is so slow, I want to know if I’m a solid candidate for Fall 2021.

High School:

GPA: 3.82
4 AP’s and 2 Honors classes
Stat (pretty low): 1220

Community College

Completed 18 units, will have 32 units completed by end of semester. Planning on completing 63 units by Spring 2021.

Major: Gender and Women’s Studies

GPA: 4.0

Extracurricular Activities:

  • Tutor for Introduction to Chemistry
  • Honors Society Club
  • STEM Club
  • Work at a preschool ( been working for 5 years part-time)

Essay:

  • First generation female
  • Hispanic (idk if that helps)
  • Writing about how women in my family were encouraged to let a man provide for them, and discouraged to obtain a higher education. I am finally changing the pattern of uneducated females in my family.

I did apply to a few schools after this semester and I got into UVA.

I see no reason not to apply. And being Hispanic can only help. You already have a great opportunity at UVA, so there’s nothing to lose. Bowdoin might even give you enough financial aid to make it cheaper than UVA. Give it a shot.
