I am from the west coast.

3.2 GPA throughout high school

1610 on SATs

Over 300 Community Service Hours

National Honor Society

Private High School

I have taken extra classes before school such as leadership and student government.

I have played basketball, football, track, and swim all my years in high school.

I am in good standing with all my teachers.

I don't have bad grades but nothing to fancy, and I have been consistent with something between a 3.1 and 3.3 every semester of HS.

Should I even apply in 2012 or is it too much of a reach? Thank you.

How do you plan on paying for your education? To be considered for merit-scholarships, you’ll need to have a higher GPA and SAT or ACT scores. To give you a general idea of their selectivity, here’s the profile for their freshmen class of 2010 “Average GPA: 3.712, Average SAT Score: 1850.” What is your major? Are you planning to retake your SAT? Try retaking it to see if you can improve your score to increase your chance for admission. Also try to take the ACT if you can? Some students do better on the ACT. Any thing is possible. If you have any special talent, make sure you provide them with that information as well. Good luck.

My family would be able to pay for all costs so I would not be in need of any financial aid or scholarship money.

Would that therefore be able to help my chances of being accepted?

Do you plan on playing a sport if you get into Chapman? Looks like you have special talents in playing sports in HS. If money is not an issue and you have special talent in playing sports that will be a plus. I hope you will also try to retake your SAT. I suggest you to speak to one of their admission counselors for the specifics if you plan to play a sport. Here’s their link. Hope this helps.

i wouldn’t let the average test/gpa stats intimidate you…mines are far from the “average” and I still got in… twice. (i had to decline my admission the first time). i think they look more for passion in your major, the essay, and creativity in your application.
