Should I apply to HYPMS just because I can?

3.7 WEIGHTED GPA
About a 3.0 without it being weighted.
2200 SAT
Low Income(Below 30,000 a year)
Asian.
150+ hours Hospital Hours
Pretty much no ECs

The reason i'm asking this is because I could probably get fee waivers to apply to those schools free. Should i even bother applying? I know my chances are pretty much below 0.01 percent. What do you think?

do what u want. you wont get in though.

yeah nothing stands out about you as an applicant, imo. asian is not a urm for most top schools.

your fee waivers would be best used for schools that you actually have an interest in, not just because of name.

I think that you should see if you actually like any of them and if so apply but if not, then don't bother. I'd say that for any school though.

The above posters all have good points pretty much. The chance is greater than 0.01% of you getting in to HYPSM, but it's not 100% either (then again, it's not 100% for ANYONE).

If you have the money, you have the power.

Apply to the entire Ivy League if you want.

Sure, you seem to want to and everyone can.

@ OP: Yes, please do!

In fact, let's coordinate. I'll apply immediately after you, so that they'll read my application right after yours lmao. kidding :)

do it dude
i was rejected from BC Tufts Rice et al.
but got into two ivies and a waitlist from third.
Especially with a fee waiver, you've nothing to lose but a few hours of your time. It may very well change your life. You never really know what can happen.
Just don't get your hopes too up, and don't spend a disproportionate amount of time doing their application essays (Harvard doesn't have a separate one, Yale is open ended, but Princeton Stanford and Penn may pose problems) so that it cuts into preparing for the schools you should be trying for.

no, don't apply just because you can, apply because you love the school!

you won't know whether you love a school or not until you've visited the campus. Don't go off purely on what you hear/read/think.
And the list of schools to visit becomes much, much shorter and easier to manage after you've been accepted, right?

PS, also think about it from the perspective that the free application doesn't mean a plus for you, you have to take the time to have your counselors/teachers write recommendations for you, taking their time away from helping other students who are probably more serious about certain schools than someone who is applying simply because they can without really really researching and loving the school

"just because you can" is no reason to apply to a school where you'll be spending four years at.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained. You will find out whether you could get admitted if you apply. I also doubt you will be admitted, but it's worth a shot since it doesn't cost anything.

If you don't bother, you may always wonder.

Since you are asking this question, it sounds to me like you are wondering. I would apply and then you will know and that will be that.

Sure, why not?

They're great schools, with the exception of Harvard I really just DO NOT like Harvard; it seems too full of itself and I don't like the campus.

Good luck
