Should I apply to LSA or Engineering?

First, some specs:
Unweighted GPA: 3.67
Weighted GPA: 3.933
ACT:
writing: 31
math: 34
reading: 32
science: 32
SAT:
reading: 750
math: 750
writing: 690
I am heavily involved in Robotics and programming. (I did do debate too though).
I come from a rich district where people like this get rejected all the time.

Here's where I'm coming from, though. I have heard from numerous sources that it is easier to get into LSA than Engineering, and LSA even has its own Computer Science program. Now, I would absolutely prefer Engineering over LSA, as I may switch majors and am interested in Mechanical too. But I also would take UMich LSA over any other college's Engineering, any day.

Any advice would be incredibly appreciated.

Apply to COE if that is what you want to do.

Thanks for the reply.

I have heard POV as well. But the thing is, I would really like to go to UofM, I don’t mind either college, so long as it’s in UofM. I also hear that it is possible to transfer colleges. Both colleges have my preferred major, Computer Science, so there’s that.

Seeing as my primary goal is to go to this university, and my preference of college is secondary, should I not apply to the one that’s easier to get into?

Do you know if LSA is indeed easier to get into?

LSA is highly recommended because your GPA is at least .2 points below the accepted mean.

You can always internal transfer to COE afterwards.

Thanks!

Btw, can you confirm that LSA is easier to get into, or is that just something that’s common knowledge?

LSA has lower admission stat and higher admission rate than CoE. However, your GPA is way below the admission average for LSA while your ACT is just slightly above admission average, Unless you are from Michigan, the chance is not really great.

Thanks for being honest.
I am from Michigan.
If you could, what would you say my chances are?

For in state applying to LSA with uwGPA 3.67, ACT 32, SAT 2190, UMich LSA should be a high match to low reach depending on your course rigor, school report, recommendation, and essays. Do you know your class rank? If the low GPA is due to your school’s grading system, you will have a much better chance.

My course rigor was definitely on the high end. My school does not calculate rank.
Umm, I would definitely have to say my low GPA was, besides my difficult classes, my fault. My school is more competitive, so that’ll probably hurt my chances too.
Thanks for all the help by the way.

I would apply to the school of LSA and then transfer to the CoE if need be, although I assume that a CS major from LSA should have similar access to Robotics clubs and labs.
