I visited the Marymount Manhattan recently and totally fell in love. I'd apply for either the BFA or BA in dance. I loved the school and it's location in NYC and just everything. Then I came home and read reviews. People seemed to really hate the school!! Is it really as bad as they make it seem? Or will I love it? I know (and enjoy) that there isn't any Greek life or sports or campus. So anybody who knows Marymount... Opinions? Advice? I'd be really sad if my "dream school" turned out to be horrible but of course I'd rather know that now rather than hating the school next fall if I went

Why not apply, and then visit the school if you get in and find it’s financially viable? Once there, just ask current students about their thoughts on some of the student criticism. Remember, reviews tend to be bipolar. If a student only liked the school he or she is much less likely to review it than a student who loved/ hated the school.

Thank you. I do think that I will still apply. It is only a few hours from my house so I can visit there for a day, I didn’t even think of that! That is good advice. I was just curious to know if anyone here had anymore info :)

@rdancemajor my D is also applying to Marymount Manhattan. just curious, where did you find the negative feedback. There doesn’t seem to be much info on CC. Also curious how old some of that info may be. We were just on campus last weekend and it seems like they have been working hard to improve their program in the last several years. I think my D really liked MMC.
@diglass If you do a general google search “Marymount Manhattan student reviews,” you will find many reviews on several different sites. My daughter has a dancer friend who left after one year because she “hated the school.” I don’t know the details and the same could probably be said for most any school. The dancers they have available for you to talk to sure seem to love it, but of course they are going to know who to put out there to sell the school.
Sometimes people with sour grapes post things online and then the rumor mill starts. One of the teachers at my daughter’s dance studio went to Marymount and loved it. She’s an excellent choreographer and teacher,
