Should I apply to more schools?

If you have your heart set on attending one of the schools that you got deferred from, contact them one more time. Send them a short note stating your interest in attending and why their particular school over others could help you to reach your goals. It must be written by you and in your own words. Include copies of any additional information that shows an upward trend in your academics and/or any additional awards or recognitions that you’ve earned after sending out your original application. Did your 2nd quarter grades this year show an improvement? Did you make the Honor Roll your 2nd semester? Did you join a new EC or gain a new leadership position since sending out the original application? Does your GC in HS know you well? Would he/she be willing to send one additional note to the admission’s office or would he/she be willing to make one phone call to the admission’s office to talk about your strengths? After giving it one last shot, let it go and see how the scenario plays out. One last shot–make it personal.

In the meantime, find that safety school. You need to have a solid acceptance in your hand to a school where you can envision yourself attending in the fall.
